Project history

Variation of Chinese project 037I with some different armament. Acquisition of two more was cancelled.

Naval service

Parakramabahu served as flagship of Sri Lankan navy. 26.12.2004 she was capsized and sank during tsunami being moored at Galle, salvaged and repaired. 18.10.2006 she was badly damaged by explosive boats of Tamil Tiger insurgents and sank again.
