Project history

British U-class (2nd group) submarine, transferred to Dutch Navy 25.9.1942 even before completion.

Transfer of second submarine of this class P66 (later Varne) was scheduled. She has had time to been named Haai but after 29.10.1942 onboard of transport Abosso 29 submariners directed for her acceptance were died, and transfer have refused.

Modernizations

1942 - 1944: can carry 6 M2 mines instead of torpedoes, - 1 x 1 - 76/40; + 1 x 1 - 76/45 20cwt QF Mk II

Naval service

Dolfijn was stricken in December, 1946 then she was used as training hulk and sold for scrap only in May, 1952.
