Project history

Had covered mine deck. As well as the majority of ships built by MES, not having due experience, Krakatau suffered from insufficient manoeuvrability and stability.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

Krakatau 11.10.1932 has turned over off Surabaya, fortunately, without victims. She remained in such position till 3.12.1932 when she has been towed off to Surabay, put into standard position and entered into dock. She was repaired and again commissioned 4.9.1934. Krakatau was scuttled by crew at Madura 8.3.1942.
