Project history
20-gun corvettes, prototype became a very fast ship, making 12-13kts. In 1821 Diligente was reclassified as corvette-aviso, Écho in 1826. Niobé was cancelled in 1825.
Modernizations
1818, Écho: was armed with 18 x 1 - 151/8 24pdr SBML carronades, 2 x 1 -93/24 6pdr SBML.
1821, Diligente: was armed with 18 x 1 - 138/8 18pdr SBML carronades or (16 x 1 - 138/8 18pdr SBML carronades, 2 x 1 - 121/20 12pdr SBML).
1822, Écho: - 18 x 1 - 151/8; + 18 x 1 - 138/8 18pdr SBML carronades.
