Project history

Former RN 'O' class destroyers.

Modernizations

In 1957-1959 Tippu Sultan and Tughril were converted to type 16 frigates.

Naval service

Tughril was disarmed in 1977 and used as midshipmen's naval academy TS. Tippu Sultan was stricken in 1980 with her hulk being used as a work platform.
