Ship project history: Experimental submarines which were falling out of the general tendency of development of American submarines. Most of them had petrol engines caused considerable inconveniences, later that machinery never used in the USN.

Modernizations: 1915, G1: 2 petrol engines were removed (600 / 520 hp).

Naval service: No significant events.
