Ship project history: Cutters of this class were intended for intercept rum runners during Prohibition. For this purpose they have appeared are of little use because of low speed.

1943 - 1944, many: - 1 x 1 - 76/23; + 1 x 1 - 40/56 Bofors
1960, all survived: were armed with 1 x 1 - 40/56 Bofors only
Naval service:
Antietam and Jackson were lost 14/9/1944 at Cape Gatteras during a storm.
