Ship project history: Midget submarines intended for actions against the ships in bases. War department has acted as the initiator of creation of similar boats. Under its order in 1939 designing of midgets for usage on the rivers has begun. Soon the order has transferred in conducting Admiralty which on advantage has valued abilities of similar shisp at carrying out of subversive operations against enemy large ships. Armament of midget submarines was consisted of 2 dropped explosive charge about 2000kgs of explosives each. After clock mechanism installation for certain time submarine should dump them under the bottom of enemy ship and leave on safe distance. Midgets were conveyed to their operation area on a tow of usual submarines of "Ò" or "S" classes. Tow was effected at speed nearby 10.5kts. In comparison with prototypes, serial boats had increased from 60 to 95m operational diving depth. On the basis of Õ5 class for actions on Pacific ocean a little increased boats of "ÕÅ" class, and also training "XT" class boats were built.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Building of XE10 was cancelled.
