Project history

The further development of "U" class. Bulkheads were welded, thickness of plating of riveted pressure hull was increased, at the expense of what the operational diving depth was increased to 90m. Fuel stowage was increased: part of ballast tanks were used for fuel oil. Boats were built under 1941 and 1942 Programmes. Order for building of 12 more submarines of the same class was cancelled.
