Project history

Ex-US submarines, taken by lend-lease. Development of "O" class submarines with larger torpedo calibre (533mm), 20 boats of the first group (R1-R20) built under Holland design. Saddle-tank.

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

  P514 was lost 21.6.1942 in Atlantic. Two remaining were formally returned the USA in 1944, but handed over on demolition in Britain.
