Ship project history: Improved "K" class submarines, known defects of the early boats were eliminated as far as possible. Submarines had much heavier bow salvo (6 21`` torpedoes). Bow was more flare to improve seakeeping, superstructure was higher to protect funnels and uptakes from splashes. Some ballast tank were moved into pressure hull below waterline, so diving was faster. 6 boats were ordered early in 1918 but nearly all were cancelled in November.
Modernizations: 1929: - 4 - 450 TT (beam)
Naval service: No significant events.
