Project history

Clyde was ordered in 2005 to replace the Castle-class patrol ships as Falklands Islands patrol vessel; she differs from the previous three units in being 1.75 m longer, having an aft helicopter deck capable of handling Merlin helicopter, and having accommodations for 11 additional personnel.
