Project history

2nd class 31-gun frigates. Surveyor's Department design, approved in 1850. Tribune was first ordered in 1846 as 28-gun sailing frigate and reordered as screw ship in 1850, Curacoa utilised the frames prepared for cancelled 36-gun sailing frigates. Wooden hull.
