Project history

Steam vessels (SV1), later 2nd class frigate, 6 guns, rerated sloops in 1859. Sir William Symonds design, approved in 1844. Ordered to Firebrand design, amended to lengthen by 3m. Brig-rigged on completion, mizzens were added later.
