Project history

Former USN Robert H. Smith class destroyer-minelayer, transferred to Turkey under MDAP.

Modernizations

1983: - 1 x 4 - 40/60, SPS-6 radar; + 1 x 2 - 76/50 Mk 33, SPS-40, SPG-34 radars

Naval service

Muavenet 2.10.1992 on NATO exercises was severely damaged by a Sea Sparrow missile accidentally fired from US aircraft carrier Saratoga. Repair was considered too expensive, and ship was stricken late 1993.
