Ship project history


Former USN Newport class tank landing ships. Transferred 18/4/1997 and formally commissioned by ROCN 8/5/1998. Offer of Newport was turned doen in 1997 and offer of Schenectady was rejected in 2000.

Modernizations


1998, both: - 2 x 2 - 76/50; + 2 x 2 - 40/60 Mk 1, 2x Mk 36 SRBOC decoy RL

2010s, both: - 2x Mk 36 SRBOC decoy RL; + SLQ-3 ECM suite (WD-2A + Chang Feng IV), 4x CR-201 decoy RL
