Ship project history: Voted 1972, contracted 22/3/1973. They had Kollmorgen periscopes, two decks and 'tear-drop' hull shape. Data Saab IPDS system used two Censor 932 computers to give engine and tactical information. Attack submarines, A14 type.

Modernizations: 11/1988-4/1989, Näcken: AIP propulsion was installed (1030/1300t, 57.5x5.70x4.10m, additionally to main machinery 2 Stirling V4-275 AIP generators, 200hp, endurance submerged can be 14 days)

Naval service: No significant events.
