Project history

In Civil war in Valencia building of large steel-hulled twin-shaft MTB under the type No35 was conducted. In the absence of eligible engines the boat was never completed and after Republic fall her hull was broken up on the stocks.

In the early 1937 Republicans tried to buy from British builder "AME" experimental 36t MTB40K, however owing to an implementation of a policy of "non-interference" the boat was never transferred to Spain. In 1937 11 more boats of this 40K type were ordered to four various French builders, but till the end of Civil war any of them was never completed. 8 from them later were completed for French Navy as VTB15-22, but they were also never commissioned and ultimately cancelled 17.12.1939.
