Project history

Former US high-speed transports (APD) begun as destroyer escorts (DE) and convened during construction. In Korean service four latter ships were originally rated as gunboats (PG 83, 85-87); changed in 1972 to APD. First pair originally APD 81 and 82. These ships were in two different configurations with high and low bridges. Fitted later with tripod masts. All finally bought outright 15 November 1974.

1990s, Jeju: - 2 LCVP, deck cargo; + helicopter deck
