Ship project history: First Japanese purpose-built minelayer. Ordered under the 1915-16 program. Had 4 wooden gallows for minelaying and minesweeping.
Modernizations: 1931: - 3 x 1 - 76/40; + 2 x 1 - 76/40 11-shiki
Naval service: Katsuriki was used as survey vessel from 1936 but officially reclassified only in 1942. Katsuriki was sunk 21/9/1944 SW off Manila by American submarine Haddo.
