Ship project history: Former Russian Oryol, captured 28/5/1905 after Tsushima battle. She was capitally reconstructed: 152mm turrets were replaced by single 203mm guns in deck mounts, funnels height was moderated, superstructures were altered: as a result it was possible to liquidate an overload and to raise stability.
Ship protection: There was 32mm longitudinal anti-torpedo bulkhead connected with main belt slope. Upper deck over 3`` battery was 64-38-mm thick, main deck was 51mm and lower deck was 38-25mm. Main deck was connected with lower edge of main belt and lower deck by slopes.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Iwami was commissioned in 1907. From 28/9/1914 till 1/11/1914 she shared in bombing of German positions at Tsingtao base. 1/9/1921 she was reclassified to coast defence ship, in next April disarmed. After discarding she was converted to target and sunk on manoeuvres in July, 1924.
