Ship project history: On the basis of C type in 1944 the project of midget submarine minelayer (M-Kanamono) intended for laying of mine banks at enemy bases  has been developed. Instead of torpedo armament she carried mine tube containing 4 ground mines. Only one midget of this type was built.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Only 1 experimental boat was completed which never went to sea. Fate is unknown.
