Project history
Light escorts, completed as Kaiten carriers as part of anti-invasion plan. Built under 1943-1944 programme (Nos 1851-1870) and had steel hulls. Nos1853-1870 were never laid down and cancelled. Both incomplete ships were foundered 19.9.1945 at Uranosaki after they sprang a leaks.
