Project history

Increased variant of 1st series CA (before reconstruction), intended for protection of coast and harbours. 22 boats were laid down till September 1943г, only 12 of them (CB1-12) were completed. Remaining 10 incomplete boats were  captured by Germans. 50 more CB boats of so-called 2nd series have been ordered to Caproni, but only 3 from them were launched (CB23-25) and remained incomplete.

Modernizations

None.

Five boats (CB1-4 and 6), in September, 1943 were captured by German troops and soon transferred to Romania. In January, 1944 they again were returned to Italians, this time to puppet "Social Republic". They all were scuttled at Constance 25.8.1944. Besides 5 boats on Black sea, in September, 1943 Germans captured damaged CB7, remained never repaired and used for completion of CB13. Latter, as well as 9 more boats captured at the time of outfitting, have got under the control of 10th MAS flotilla of "Social Republic".
