Project history

Ordered on 1 January 1951 from Volkswerft Stralsund. Design apparently heavily dependant on wartime 'M40' minesweepers, though diesel propulsion employed instead of steam. Ships of 2nd series were completed with additional section amidships as a result of operational experience.

Modernizations

1950s, 6.11-6/15: + Zarnitsa radar

1960s, Frankfurt/Oder, Stralsund: - 1 x 1 - 85/52; + 1 x 2 - 57/75 ZIF-31B

Naval service
