RD101
Project history
Ships of RD series represented ex-Italian minesweeping boats of RDV type, development of VAS. They were captured on Italian shipyards in September, 1943 and finished for Kriegsmarine with Italian engines and armament. 14 more boats were completed after war for Italian Navy.
Modernizations
1944 - 1945, some completed: AA artillery was strengthened.
Naval service
RD101, RD109, RD111 and RD112 were scuttled 24.4.1945 at Genoa. RD110 was damaged by Allied aircraft and ran aground 3.6.1944 at Bocca de Ceccina. RD115 was sunk by Allied aircraft 16.3.1945 at Monfalcone. RD116 was scuttled 2.5.1945 at Tagliamento. RD127 was destroyed by crew 30.4.1945 at Monfalcone.
