Ship project history: Fishery trawlers, purchased by Navy during building and commissioned as auxiliary patrols.
Modernizations: None.
Naval service: Seestern was sunk on German mine 2/2/1918 W off Hornsriff. Dirk von Minden was sunk on mine laid by British submarine E51 29/11/1917 W off Terschelling. Max Schinkel was sunk on mine laid by British submarine E51 22/5/1917 NE off Ameland. Direktor Schauseil was mined 16/5/1918 in the North Sea.
Neuwerk was sold to France in 1931, requisitioned by French Navy in 1939 as minesweeper AD142 and sunk 19/6/1940. She was salvaged this year by Germans, commissioned by Kriegsmarine 5/8/1940 as M4005 and mined 20/4/1942 E off Morlaix. Herzog Albrecht was sold to France in 1928 but requisitioned by Kriegsmarine in November, 1941, commissioned 2/2/1943 as minesweeper M4243 and scuttled 16/12/1944 in mouth of Loire.
