Ship project history: Whalers, laid down on order of Norwegian companies but purchased by Kriegsmarine during building and commissioned as patrols.
Modernizations: 1942, both were armed with 1 x 1 - 88/45 SK C/30, (1 - 2) x 1 - 37/83 SK C/30, 6 x 1 - 20/65 C/38, 2 DCR.
Seebär, 1945: was re-armed with 1 x 1 - 37/83 SK C/30, 2 x 1 - 20/65 C/38, 6 DCR, sweeps.
Naval service: V5304 exploded 27/10/1944 off Hellisöy, towed to Leirvik for repair and sunk ther by rockets of British aircraft.
