Project history

Unique German purpose built submarine chasers. The design of "War chaser" (Kriegs-U-Jager) was been developed on the basis of a fish trawler with adaptation under naval requirements. For improvement of seaworthiness the forecastle was lengthened, bridge was shifted fwd. Ships were equipped by single-shaft VTE, working on coal, sonar and had big DC stowage.

Totally 25 ships were ordered but only 21 were completed.

Modernizations

1945, most survived: - 3 x 1 - 20/65; + 1 x 4 - 20/65 C/38, 3 x 2 - 20/65 C/38
