Project history

Negative responses about destroyers with 150mm artillery together with necessity of fitting of stronger antiaircraft armament and electronic equipment have served as reason of return to 127mm guns on type 1936B(Mob). Antiaircraft artillery has been strengthened at the expense of fitting of 2 quadruple 20mm MGs on bridge wings and replacements of 37mm/83 semi-automatic guns by more quick-firing 37mm/69. In remaining these destroyers were identical to type 1936А (Mob), differing in only dropped temperature of a steam (426°С instead of 460°С).

Modernizations

None.

Naval service

Z35 and Z36 were lost 12.12.1944 on mines in a mouth of Gulf of Finland. Z43 was damaged 10.4.1945 by a ground mine in the Danziger Bight, 3.5.1945 she was scuttled in Geltinger Bay. Z44 was sunk 29.7.1944 by Allied aircraft in outfitting basin in Bremen. Incomplete Z45 was scuttled by Allies in Skagerrack 20.7.1946.
