Ship project history: Ex-cargo vessel of Nord-Deutsche Lloyd, completed in 1906. Converted to catapult vessel for Deutsche Lűfthansa in 1933. Seaplanes were handled by 15t crane.

Naval service: Westfalen was sunk by mine 7/9/1944 in Skagerrak.
