Ship project history: Cargo vessel Schwarzenfels was built in 1925 for DDG Hansa, converted to catapult vessel Schwabenland for Deutsche Lűfthansa in 1934. Seaplanes were handled by 15t crane.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service:  Schwabenland was torpedoed 24/3/1944 by British submarine Terrapin off Egersund and stranded. Later she was salvaged but used only as hulk and scuttled 31/12/1946 with chemical ammunition on board.
