Project history

Though a hopeless anachronism as a fighting ship the Nixe, with her full rig and wood and copper-sheathed bottom was useful as a school ship, though she was a bad seaboat and awkward under sail.

Modernizations

1890s: - 1 x 1 - 125/21

1890s: - 1 x 1 - 125/21; + 2 x 1 - 88/27 SK L/30 C/89, 4 x 5 - 37/27 RV L/30

Naval service

In 1900 she was relegated to being a workshop ship, and from 1901 to 1906 she was used as an office at Kiel. She was broken up in 1916.
