Project history

They performed very well and were excellent sea boats for their size.

Modernizations

1880s, No.10, 16: - 1 spar torpedo; + 2 Maupóu TT

Naval service

All remained in service for over 15 years. No.14 was used for trials on a Du Temple boiler and after being stricken as а ТВ in 1894 was reclassified is a remorquer and renamed Économe. Most had a small funnel so that the spar torpedo would clear it, but No.19 was fitted with 2 funnels on trials and with a Trépardoux boiler, and also received TTs.
