Ship project history: Former British corvettes of Flower class, acquired by the Irish Navy in 1946 - 1947. Cliona and Maev had short forecastles, forecastle of Macha was extended as on modified Flowers. Also on of her messdecks was converted into cabins for flotilla commander and Macha was used as leader.

Modernizations: 1966 - 1967, Cliona, Macha: were refitted for fishery protection duties; armament was consisted from 1 x 1 - 102/45 BL Mk IX only.

Naval service: No significant events.
