Project history

Large LCU with a blunt bow incorporating a beaching ramp. Ship of Type 079 was ordered by Vietnam but in 1976 was accepted by PLAN. Ship proved unsuccessful, too slow and unseaworthy. Later design was improved for series building as Type 079II.
