Ship project history: Armed trawlers classified as corvettes. They were built at Niteroi under order of the Great Britain, made in 1941, but 24/8/1942, during building, were transferred to Brazilian Navy.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: Barreto de Menezes was lost 4/11/1954 as result of navigating accident. Vidal de Negreiros and Henrique Dias in 1955 were converted to survey vessels. Remaining ships in 1952-1953 were transferred to merchant marine, have passed re-equipment and further were used basically as trawlers.
