Project history

These two units were built in sections in West Germany and assembled in Argentina. Sato in refit from late 1980s and in 1991 San Luis also had begun refit at Domecq Garcia Shipyard. Progress is very slow due to lack of funds. Both ships may be sold and modernisation competed for new owner. SST-4 torpedoes.

Modernizations

1966, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero: fin was modernized.

Naval service

Salta was was reported to be for sale in 1986 but entered shipyard in 1988 for new engines and a new electronics, she was relaunched in 1994 and recommissioned in March 1995. San Luis never entered refit and was stricken in 1997.
