Ship project history: In days of the First World War in the USA the big number of 110ft submarine chasers has been built. Secretary of Navy Roosevelt (future President) participated in development of building of this huge series on small shipyards. 110ft chasers were built in a huge series for their time: 442 boats of 448 ordered were commissioned. At their manufacturing the conveyor method, with usage of the processing methods accepted in car industry, was applied. Wooden hull.

Modernizations: None.

Naval service: In 1919 SC413, 414, 233, 234, 267, 275, 276, 279 - 281 and 307 were transferred to Army (first 2 before completion).

Many chasers were transferred in 1919-1920 to Coast Guard (they were named). SC408, 409, 411, 417 - 423, 435, 436, 438 were never commissioned by Navy.
