Project history

Former Italian Spica class torpedo boats were bought by Sweden 27.3.1940. After overdue arrival to Sweden (see Puke class) they have undergone all-round trials and have made good impression upon the Swedish naval staff. Later they served as prototype for home-built escort destroyers of Mode class.

Modernizations

1953, both: - 1 x 1 - 100/47, 2 x 2 - 450 TT; + 1 x 3 - 305 Squid Mk 4 ASWRL, radars, sonar

Naval service

Both ships were re-rated as frigates in 1953.
